Hey Fxers,
Update: FashionX’s first club meeting of the school year was a smash hit. Fashionable people with great accessories and innovative ideas culminated in the d.school’s Studio 1 this Wednesday for a beautifully successful first meetup. I’ll give a quick synopsis for those that did not have the privilege of attending: after introducing the club’s mission and different teams, we broke out so newcomers could explore FashionX’s many different projects and teams, including but not limited to Runway, Merch, Trek (catch us in NYC!), and the best by a large margin: the Blog team.
I digress. Let’s dig into the meat of this week’s post by getting to know our fantastic presidents Chloe and Megan. While working the FashionX booth for the Club Fair last week, I asked our presidents questions about the Fx’s upcoming year and their hopes and dreams for the organization.
When prompted about the event she is most anticipating, Megan answered that she is most looking forward to Trek, FashionX’s annual trip to a fashion hotspot to meet brands and connect with other creatives. This year, Trek is heading to the Big Apple, a fact that stirred lots of buzz around the Trek table this Wednesday.
Chloe is excited to see their runway vision come to fruition this winter, the biggest Fx event of the year. I’m personally already counting down the days until Family Weekend. But in addition, she is looking forward to growing the FashionX team and attending the smaller events that the team organizes.
Megan agreed with Chloe’s sentiment when I asked her about her top priority as president. She hopes to focus on increasing member retention and growing the FashionX community by building on the interest we saw at the first meeting. Throughout this year, Chloe will prioritize breaking down the notion that Fx is an “exclusive” club, and instead hopes to highlight “inclusiveness and creativity above all.” What wonderful goals our presidents have!
When prompted about what she would say to prospective members of the club, Megan overlapped Chloe’s statement by negating the excuse that FashionX is too intimidating, too fashionable, or too much of a commitment to join. She clarified that there is a large range of commitment levels for each member to position themselves on. She also explained that every person interacts with fashion, whether you work at Versace or simply just get dressed in the morning. Now THAT is why FashionX is such an essential club to join.
See you all next Wednesday at the d.school xx.
Fashionably,
Ella
