Super Kid? Or KidSuper?

A few winter breaks ago, I was parked at Beacon’s Beach in Encinitas, California with one of my best friends to watch the sunset. As we were leaving the parking lot, we saw a man walking down the street wearing a fleece camo-printed quarter zip. Though an avid camo-hater, this camo fleece caught my eye: the print wasn’t too outrageous and the boxy-ness of the fleece had the perfect blend of baggy and fitted. I liked this jack SO much that I asked my friend if it would be weird to roll down the window to ask him where he got this jacket from–to which she responded a strong “No because I want to know where that jacket came from also.” And so I did.

I put my foot on the brakes, and rolled down my window to ask this random stranger where his jacket was from. To which he responded: “Kidsuper.”

When I went home, I went into a DEEP dive into Kidsuper. And long story short, I fell in love.

Kidsuper embodies whimsical designs and bright, vibrant colors–two elements of clothing that I admire. They turned clothing into art pieces, and made it so that every piece told its own story. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

And thus, today I hope to turn everyone into a Kidsuper fan like I am. This was my Kidsuper origin story, but what is Kidsuper’s origin story?

Kidsuper is a rebellious force, a disruptor in the world of high-end fashion, and it all started with the dream of a young artist named Colm Dillane. Picture this: a basement in Brooklyn, brimming with creativity, fueled by passion, and housing the birth of something extraordinary.

Colm, a self-taught artist with a penchant for breaking the rules, founded KidSuper in 2012. What sets KidSuper apart is its unapologetic embrace of individuality. The brand doesn't just sell clothes; it sells a lifestyle, a mindset that says, "Be yourself, unapologetically." And that's exactly what the fashion industry needs – a breath of fresh, authentic air.

The journey began with handmade, one-of-a-kind pieces crafted by Colm himself. The brand quickly gained attention for its unique blend of streetwear, art, and high fashion. KidSuper became a haven for those who craved something different, something with personality and character.

As the brand gained momentum, so did its influence. KidSuper's designs started catching the eye of influencers and celebrities, and soon enough, the streets were adorned with their distinctive, colorful creations. What's impressive is that KidSuper's success didn't stem from conforming to the norms of high fashion; instead, it challenged those norms.

One of the notable impacts KidSuper has made is breaking down the barriers between streetwear and high fashion. The brand's aesthetic seamlessly blends urban grit with high-end sophistication, creating a style that's as versatile as it is daring. Suddenly, it became cool to mix and match, to experiment with textures and colors, and to let your personal style shine.

KidSuper's influence extends beyond clothing. Colm Dillane's commitment to authenticity has inspired a new generation of designers to embrace their uniqueness. The brand's DIY spirit encourages creativity, reminding us all that fashion is an art form, and everyone can be an artist.

In the grand scheme of things, KidSuper has left an indelible mark on the high-fashion community. It has proven that fashion isn't about conforming; it's about expressing yourself fearlessly. The brand's rise serves as a reminder that the industry doesn't always have to be serious and exclusive. Sometimes, it's about having fun, being playful, and celebrating the artistry that exists in all of us.

So, the next time you see someone rocking a KidSuper piece, know that it's not just clothing – it's a statement, a rebellion against the ordinary, and a celebration of individuality. KidSuper isn't just a brand; it's a movement, and it's changing the face of high fashion one colorful creation at a time.
